Yemen LNG Project selects Entel HT ATEX VHF

Yemen LNG, a fast-growing supplier of liquefied natural gas, is the latest Middle East company to purchase Entel’s and ATEX radios. Supplied via AZ Communications, an authorised Entel dealership based in the country, the Government-backed company recently took delivery of Entel’s ATEX marine VHF portables for use at its port facility at Balhaf in the Gulf of Aden.
Entel produces a comprehensive range of ATEX radios in all bands, including marine, land and MPT1327 trunking variants. For their gas liquefication plant, Yemen LNG selected the marine VHF ATEX model, for use on tankers exporting the liquefied gas to their markets in Europe, South America and the Far East.
The project, begun in 2005, is Yemen’s largest ever planned investment, budgeted at around USD$4 billion, propelling the company into the major league of liquefied natural gas suppliers internationally.
Ahsan Khan, Entel’s business development manager for the Middle East, said: "This is a prestigious project for Yemen, requiring top flight communications that will guarantee the safety and efficiency of their operation. Compared to other radio manufacturers they considered, the Entels won through on product spec, build quality and price".
Entel’s ATEX range of intrinsically safe portables is now a recognised leader in the oil and gas industries, used in transportation and refineries, as well as on-shore and off-shore drilling platforms worldwide.
