Commercial maritime models get Russian approval

Entel's VHF and GMDSS hand portables have succeeded in obtaining hard-to-get type approvals from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS) - gatekeepers to the lucrative marine radio market on Russia's northern seabord. This achievement allows dealers to massively extend the sales reach of Entel's established range of dedicated marine radios to fleets operating out of ports like St Petersburg and Severodvinsk.
The radios' pedigree speaks for itself, having been proven in European waters for several years, with increasing numbers of maritime dealers in markets farther afield making Entel's VHF and GMDSS radios their radios of choice too. From the outset, Entel's GMDSS radios have complied with MED and IMO regulations, but some countries, like Russia, require their own additional type approvals.
In March 2010, in Japan, Entel's HT649 GMDSS handheld radio became the first non-Japanese GMDSS radio to be granted type approval for use in Japanese waters. Now, the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping has followed suit, giving Entel's competitively priced radios access to Russia's huge commercial shipping fleet.
Of particular interest to dealers supplying this market, will be Entel's ATEX marine radios, as the RMRS approval will allow the supply of Ex portables to radio comms systems aboard tanker fleets supplying Western European and Scandinavian energy markets. The radios are built to the highest possible specifications, often exceeding statutory minimums, and certified to withstand the rigours of life at sea - ensuring that when it comes to communications, the safety of crew, vessel and cargo is never compromised.
