Fire Fighter radios, SOLAS Regulation, Chapter II-2
Posted on June 01, 2015
The IMO regulation (SOLAS regulation 10.10.4) requires all new ships from 1st Jul 2014 to equip their firefighting teams with at least two Intrinsically Safe two-way portables. Vessels built prior to 1st July 2014 need to comply by 1 Jul 2018.
Entel offers a comprehensive range of marine VHF and UHF intrinsically safe portables to comply with the new SOLAS regulations. Following options of Intrinsically Safe portables are available:
- ATEX Approved IIC - The HT900 range of ATEX certified portables meet IIC T4.
- ATEX Approved IIA - The HT800 range of ATEX certified portables meet IIA T4.
- IECEx Approved - The HT500 range of intrinsically safe certified portables meet IECEx certification - suitable for those users who do not need to comply with the European ATEX standard.
As a major supplier to Fire and Rescue organizations globally, Entel has an extensive selection of audio accessories appropriate to this application to include a range of bone-conductive options that can fit easily with existing BAs. Should the customer demand a radio integrated Breathing Apparatus, Entel can offer two market leading products from Draeger and Scott Safety that are approved on our ATEX certificate, providing peace of mind to the user that the whole solution, i.e. radio and the BA, is ATEX approved and safe for use in hazardous environments.
